I'm planning to assemble a two way system with high sensativity that will use an Altec 802D for the HF section. Horns will likely be 511s and the cross will likely be 800.
The cab will be vented and will not be a bass horn type.
Anyway, the woofers I'm considering are the 416 and 515.
Is it more cost effective to go with new GPA drivers? If yes, what is their approximate price?

You'll need to call GPA to get prices. They don't seem to publish them..... I get the idea that prices change quite often so they can keep prices closer to their costs than many other manufacturers. When I checked on diaphragms I was surprised that they weren't more..... having brand new drivers could very well be cheaper in the long run than buying used on Ebay.

I don't have any idea which would be better for you...... others here would be able to answer that better...... or call GPA and see what they say. They certainly know their product.

Historically it's been all about trade-offs, the 515 had more usable HF BW whereas the 416 had more usable LF, so for me the low Fs, Qts/high Vas version of the 515B is my choice for the best of both once EQ'd, especially for higher XO points.
Just browsing GPA's docs though lists their 515s as all having less usable BW than their 416-8C plus an Fs/Vas more in line with my 515Bs, so not sure what that's all about, but based solely on the published info the 416-8C would be my choice if I couldn't get 515s with my preferred specs of ~20 Hz Fs/20 ft^3 Vas/0.2 Qts.
